I got my daughter to drop the bottles pretty quick I gave her both her bottle and a sippy cup I put her formula in the sippy cup and water in the bottle she wanted the formula so she took the sippy. it was pretty quick. also it is a good idea to let them just play with the cuppy before you expect them to use it so they can get used to it. just dont get stressed and dont worry it will happen. just keep trying but dont get upset when he wont take it.

well we made the mistake of letting our son use his bottle as a paci since the dog kept chewing up all his paci's. and we have tried about all the different sippys out there, but he does know how to drink from a straw now so maybe we will try one of those cups instead..thansk for the advice Kati and all others who are having the same issue right now, i really wish you the best of luck!!!

I did the same thing as Jeannette...I just got rid of the bottles at one year. Prior to that he would drink water out of his sippy cups, so he was used to them. He didn't seem to care much that he was now getting milk out of a sippy instead of a bottle, but I know some kids are harder to break of certain habits. Good luck!

We started our son at a year. He had one to play with before he was a year, but I never had any extra breast milk to put in it, so he never got practice. At one year, I took away all the bottles and left my husband with 3 bottles (just in case) and a bunch of cups. I work weekends, so during the week, he was all breastfed and on the weekends it was whole milk. He finally using a cup (by himself) at 13 months. If you want him off the bottles, toss all the bottles and don't give him a choice. But it's not bad to wait until he is a year. But at a year, I think they should be off bottles.

Ugh I am having a hard time as well my son is 16 months tomorrow and we did the biggest mistake ever and let him fall asleep with his bottle, this is going to be hard, same thing with my son Ryder, he uses his sippy cup but as soon as I put his milk in it he refuses to drink out of it !

have you tried all the different kinds? i started out with a very soft spout, almost like a bottle. and worked up from there.
some babies like to drink out of straws first, try one of those types of cups.
just be persistant, sometimes it may take a while. it doesn't have to happen overnight. :)
