Well, then enforce consequences!

What is the point of being a parent?

"This generation" is no different from "that generation" or "my generation". We all thought we were "special". We all learned differently.

Raise your kid with expectations, consequences and discipline. Don't give in to his 'me, me, me" bullshit, and don't write his behaviour off to "it's this generation". Because, I guarantee, "this generation" includes my kids, and they are stellar. Why? Because I didn't raise them any differently than I was raised.

Reasonable expectations. Consequences for not living up to expectations, or not completing assigned tasks. Discipline when necessary.

What do you mean by "this generation". Let's be honest, this generation is a little different, but I wouldn't say they are that different in temperament. Kids were temperamental 30-40 years ago too. You also cannot "handle" and entire generation of kids in a particular way. They are individuals and should be treated as such. Exactly what are you asking?
