Take her shopping, do girly things with her (pedicures etc..), go to the movies, go out for lunch, or whatever she shows interest in. Let her tell you whatever she wants; boys, things she is having issues with, things she likes and is excelling in. Share your experiences with her (you don't have to go into details). Do things with her that she would do with her friends. You can accomplish this and still be her mom. Listen when she wants to tell you something but don't be too eager to give her your opinion unless she asks for it. Be someone that your daughter can trust and confide in. How old is she? I have never watched the show you are referring to, but having a friendship with her mother is definitely not a bad thing. As long as she still respects you. Have fun with it, don't be worried about it. Good luck and I hope you find the balance that your daughter is looking for.
