How common is death during pregnancy?

Im scared i am going to die during or after childbirth... Is this very common.... Should i be worried?

Yes, it can. It does happen, but I don't think it is that common at all. If you are really worried... please talk to your OB about it. If he/she does not put your fears to rest then consider speaking to a counselor to work through your fear. You will, most likely, be fine. The odds are in your favor. :)

Like Dove said, it can happen, but in this time with all of our wonderful medical advances, it is not nearly as common. Def talk with your doctor. He or she should be able to set your mind at ease more efficiently than us.

I am in the United states. I have hear of hemmorages, blood clotting in the brain, infections, and loss of blood. and i heard it can be up to a few weeks after birth as well.

Where are you?



In most countries, with the advances in medical care now, death during and after childbirth is quite rare. It does still happen, of course, but it's honestly never a thought that occurred to me in any of my pregnancies.
