I live in a very rural area so the closest preschool is 90 miles round trip. I teach my 4 1/2 son the basics at home. He is well socialized and has no problem without me and spends time with Grandma or other family away for a few days at a time sometimes. He is bright and I feel he will be prepared for kindergarten at age 5 1/2. The rural school where he will be attending has small class size so he will get attention he needs if he needs more help in an area. Lately some family has given me grief and guilt for not having him in preschool and that he can't write his name yet. I love my son and want what is best for him and am hurt that family does not think I am doing what I should be doing. Just wanted to hear how your child/children transitioned to school without preschool.
