It depends. It's brain development. I highly doubt he lays in bed and pees himself for fun. A common cause is constipation, which is necessary to identify and treat. Limiting fluids actually makes this worse, but pushing fluids can help significantly. There are also bed wetting alarms and sleep routines (waking every 3 hours through the night to pee, etc).

Honestly, I don't know. How old is your son? My son is 4.5 and still wears a diaper to bed only. Most nights his diaper is full of pee. I have been told that it's normal for most kids to take long to break out of wetting at night. Some kids as old as 8.
