i recently converted my son's crib to a junior bed since he was climbing out of the crib (albeit quite competently ) every single night and at bedtime. the problem now is, most nites it takes a good 2 hours to get him to fall to sleep in his junior bed. if i leave before he falls asleep, he climbs out and goes to the door looking for me (the door is ajar with a baby gate to prevent him from leaving the room and getting hurt. i have been staying in the room with him until he falls into deep sleep. this sometimes takes 2 hours! then even after he falls asleep, he wakes up in the middle of the nite and comes looking for me. last nite he got up 5 times from 11pm to 3am. i keep going to him and putting him back in his bed, where he goes willingly until he later wakes up and looks for me and sees i am not there. should i just leave him be? if he gets up and goes to door (with gate) and let him cry it out? i am not sure if he will scream, play or maybe eventually take himself back to bed. I am exhausted and cannot continue to function like this! any/all advice is welcome!
