How do I get my 19 month old to not freak out when I leave him in the daycare at the gym? He has never been in child care and is only babysat my his Grandparents. I am in playgroups with him but he can always see tht I am near by. Aside from me wanteing to work out I thought that an hour every second day in a group without me would teach him it's ok to be without us. Any suggestions on how to make it easier on him? He screams and cries when I leave.

Does he scream and cry the entire time you are gone? Most kids scream for about 30 seconds (just long enough to make mom feel bad) and then are perfectly happy the rest of the time. At church, I always tell parents this...if he/she is still crying in 10 minutes, I will come get you. I've only ever had to go get a mom 1 time.

I would have introduce him to it a couple of time first before just leaving him. I didnt have that problem until my baby who is 30 month old just started doing it so I am going through the same thing so late in the game. But have you ever double back to see how long he actually cries(dont let him see you) my son stop instantly after I am no longer in his sight. I think once he get use to and it becomes familiar it will fade away for the gym.
