I have a 2.5 year old and a 4 year old. My 2.5 year old stopped napping daily before he turned 2 and my 4 year old stopped napping daily at 18 months. Now the only times either of them nap is when they are not well, extemely tired, or in the car.

I never managed to get any of my three children to sleep after 2.5. Really at three your daughter does not need a sleep so you are highly unlikely to get her to sleep. I suggest you have wind down and quiet time in the afternoon where she has a story from you and she lies down for half an hour. It is 50/50 if she will sleep but if you build this in to your daily routine you may get lucky.

Most kids stop napping during the day between 2.5 and 3. It is unusual for them to still agree to have a nap past their 3rd birthday, even though most parents think they still need it. Her napping days are over sorry to say, the best you can hope for is to teach her to have a half hour of quiet time, sitting in her room doing something quiet, this usually helps a bit.

Have you tried to give her a book and just rest? She may fall asleep. My almost three year old grand daughter will lay on the couch with a book and most times will fall asleep. If not then she goes to bed early and sleeps well. Also if she keeps busy in the day, then she is usually pretty good, no whining. Hope this helps a little.
