How do I get my 5 yr old to focus and listen more at school?

My child has a hard time focusing and paying attention at school. She is smart and reads very well. However, on occasion her teacher will write, in child's daily folder, about child not focusing or listening that day. I don't want to jump the ADD train but want to find ways to help my child learn to be more alert and aware, on her own. Any advice?

My brother was like that for most of his elementary school years even now that he's in high school. They test him for ADD and all that every year but theres nothing wrong with him. I asked him why he doesn't pay attention or focus and he told me that he doesn't find it interesting. lol I tutored my brother for the longest time, sometimes they have to learn it outside of the classroom because not every teacher and can teach every child the same way. My brother loves football, he can tell you every player for every team, what position they play and all that, but he couldn't tell me how many states there are in america lol. So i used football to teach my brother in all subjects. I know it sounds like a lot to have to reteach everything but sometimes it has to be done. He has a 4.0 now but he has coaches and other resources now to turn to other than me. I wouldn't worry too much if its just a little bit now and then, but like I said maybe your kid just needs something interesting to catch his attention.

I hope this helps :) good luck
