How do I get my 6 year old daughter to go to bed on time (her bedtime is at 8pm), what do I do?

For the last past 2 weeks, my daughter has been refusing to go to bed at her required bedtime, because she is in school. I don't know what to do. I want her to get the quality amount of sleep she needs to get through the day. On the weekends she's normally goes to bed whenever, but I'm not sure if that is the cause of what she is doing now.

Hmmm if she lays in bed on a weekend night or morning watching it I wouldn't bother u could try this it's a bit harsh but I'll guarantee u u wouldn't have to do it much for the hint to sink in...........tell her there's no tv allowed on in her room ona school nite but weekends only then say if I catch u with ur telly on on a school nite it will b taken out of ur room this weekend.......but it will only work if u stick to it and then at the weekend don't forget to say a few times t remind her that it's a shame she didn't follow the rule n leave her telly off as she could have watch a DVD!!!! P.s ona school nite my son always has the option to look threw his books and magazines in bed I put him a dim lite on n sum mags on his bedside table, chances r after her bath n supper n book she b to relaxed n tired to care lol

Well she also has a tv in her room and I sometime catch her watching it, do you think it would be wise to take the tv out, until she learns there is a time to watch this and there is time that you don't?

Perhaps u could have a limit of say 9 on a weekend as 6 is still quite young ,unless she handles the late nights well over the weekend, wot I do with my 8yr old is this(on a weeknight)7pm is bath time he has 5minutes play then it's time for him to wash his body n hair(if he goes over this time with washing he gets no book)then out of bath pjs on,bowl of cereal or toast as supper, teeth brushed, toilet then up in bed I read to him for rand 10mins then it's lights out n sleep time, hope this helps
