Feeding guidelines are good "generally," but not set in stone for every child. I have friends whose babies' growth and physical/digestion needs were more "advanced" and they were eating their parents' pureed food before the age of one. If you are already giving your son rice/oat cereal before bedtime (if not, try it) it is possible your son may be ready for more protein/meat-based meals. Puree chicken with peas or carrots or potatoes as a test meal before bedtime and measure how much he is able to eat. If you are breast-feeding at all (just in case you are), check to see if there is anything you are ingesting that has a stimulating effect). Since he is taking the bottle to get back to sleep 2 times out of 3, it does sound like you can up his nutritional intake to foods that take longer to digest.
