I am new to the group and I have a Question I have a 9 year old daughter that has done this since she was small.
It takes her hours on end to eat, and it is very frustrating to me, I am constantly repeating my self telling her to hurry with her food. How do you get your children to eat in a timely manner

I would first take her to a Dr. to make sure she doesn't have any medical conditions that might be why she has beentaking so long.
If that turns out to be fine then I would put a timer on the table and slowly take a couple minutes off the clock. Starting with an hour or what ever you think would be a good starting point.
I am sure at school during lunch she is not allowed to take hours to eat so she is already seeing that she has limits depending on where she is at.
Once the timer goes off, that's it. I would also take all snacks away until you have reached your goal. Being hungry will encourage her to be more mindful of the time frame and the impact of the consequences of taking too long.
slowly taking time off the timer until it reaches an acceptable time frame.
Every action has a reaction and sometimes they are not always enjoyable. If she see's that taking to long results in being hungry then she may change her habits. I did this with my daughter who was a very picky eater. She had a time limit of eating what was on her plate because is she didn't like it (which was everything) then she would sit there until I would give in. I was tired of my 8 year old deciding what I would be fixing her for dinner. Which generally turned into a bowl of cereal.
She either ate what was on the table in a timely manner or went hungry. Once I took away snacks, she changed her attitude. To this day she is no longer a picky eater.
