How do I get my daughter to sleep during the day?

I've tried everything from patting her in her bed to putting her back to sleep in my arms.
She pretty much refuses to go back to sleep after her 45 minute sleep!

I had problems with my son sleeping during the day, he stopped having a nap all together at 8 months and I started taking him swimming and to the park in the mornings so he would sleep after lunch, he would sleep for 20 mins then be up till midnight that night, leaving him to cry in his cot wasn't an option for me because he would make himself throw up everywhere. I think he might have had too much energy and that might be the same as your daughter, try wearing her out maybe she will sleep longer.

You do not say how old your baby is. Most children over the age of one have just one lunch time sleep a day for about 2 hours and babies under this age tend to have two sleeps a day morning and afternoon for about and hour and a half. Try to put her down at the same time every day and let her soothe herself to sleep. If she knows that it is nap time through a regular routine she is more likely to sleep.
