My 7 year old daughter has an exclusive contract for modeling and she has done a couple of jobs for Kohl's. Today we went on a on-camera casting call to do commercials, all of the sudden she got really shy and she wasn't even talking. We had practice so many times at home but I guess today she got really shy. We have never experience rejection.
I've ask her are you sure you want to do this and she said yes so many times and she really seem exited to be on tv and not just paper ads.
Anyway the guy at the agency said she was so cute but that they thought she wasn't ready for a contract as an actor, the guy told me to go back in a few months just to see how much she had improve. Anyway I got super upset with her, I stared yelling and telling her all I did like to take off work to bring her there. I also told her that she wasn't allowed to do anything fun anymore. I know I did so wrong and right now I feel like the worst mom on the planet, I apologized 100x I've been crying all afternoon.

It's pretty normal for a child to get "stage fright". Even older people do, so you can see how it can happen to a child who is not as emotionally developed. The agent sounds like he understood that it can happen. You had a right to be upset, but you didn't handle it as well as you should have. It happens. It's over. Move forward.

Teach her that responsible people own up to their mistakes. Don't apologize 100x to her, but do calmly apologize and say you overeacted. Tell her that she can try again later, but you want her to tell you if she feels too nervous before you take off work to go to the shoot. Realize that she may not know until that very moment in front of the camera, and next time be better prepared if she's still not ready. Hopefully everything will go more smoothly. Hope for the best, expect the worst, and anything in between comes as no surprise.
