My 3 1/2 year old daughter was just diagnosed with low muscle tone. We just began seeing an OT for sensory issues. She crawled and walked a little late as a baby but did not need physical therapy to master these skills. Now that she is older and in school she does not have the endurance to keep up with the other kids. She gets tired running, cannot peddle a bike or trike, has issues climbing and can't hang from a bar. I asked my OT about getting her some physical therapy and she told me that once a child has low muscle tone they always have low muscle tone and it won't help. Has anyone had success helping an older child with low muscle tone that was not diagnosed as a baby?
