How do I hold my 14 yr old son accountable for his actions?

My son has been doing inappropriate things with his phone.i took his phone. Is that really holding him accountable or is there more I need to do?

Its not enough to take the phone away. You should be addressing the issue with him and telling him why it is inappropriate to be doing those things on his phone and the possible trouble he can get into besides with you. I would not be giving that phone back by the way. If it were my son he would be not allowed the phone until he was old enough to play for it himself. But back to the issue, he needs to understand that those type of actions can cause him trouble later on. You were not specific but in this day and age of technology, it does not matter what you do that is inappropriate; it can make or break your future, get you into trouble with the law, or other things. I would be very firm about it and also monitor the internet on the computer as well and keep the computer in the main living areas only.
