If they are little you can just put a gate on the area you need them to stay in or in a play pen (if you're trying to mop the floor or do crafts) with some toys where they can see you.

Aside from the stuff listed if they are old enough there is arts and crafts, play dough, playing outside, board games, music to dance to, have them go to their room for quiet time to read draw or what ever just something quiet.

Depends on the ages of your children, but tv, books, and drawing/coloring are usually pretty helpful.

If that fails.... duct tape (of which I STILL haven't bought any and been using that threat for many years...lol).

TV does certainly help especially if it is something they really like to watch. It also depends on your children's ages though. If they are under the age of two, chances are alone time is not going to last for long.
