How do I keep my son in his bed at night?

He sleeps in his room just fine, but in the middle of the night he wakes up crying and comes in my room. I think he wants to sleep with someone... I am the same way, but I don't want this habit for my son. Any suggestions? I can't stand to make him cry it out either.

He is 20 months right now... he has been in his own bed for about 5 months ( I was a "bad" mom and had him in our bed since birth). I do usually lay with him until he falls back asleep but he will still get up at least 2 more times after I put him back down. i guess I just have to be more patient with it. He does have a TV on very low, i figured it would help to drown out the sound. Thank you

How old is he? My son did that a lot when he was 2 and 3, and I'd walk him back to his room and make sure a night light was on and turn on something with some background noise for him. Every once in a while, he'll still come in (he's 5 now) and tell me he had a bad dream, but I pretty much do the same thing. Sometimes the TV at a really low volume too. Or you could always go into his room and lay with him till he starts to doze back off.
