How do I know if I am in pre-labor?

This is my second pregnancy and completely different than the first. I am 37 1/2 weeks pregnant and I just started having Braxton Hicks contractions every 15 minutes. They come when I am sitting, standing or sleeping and nothing seems to help them go away. They probably last about 20-40 seconds. So, my question woud be is this considered pre-labor? I haven't lost my plug completely that I know of. With my first child I lost my plug at 37 weeks and the next day my water broke. I never had contractions until after my water broke and then it was a couple of hours after that they started happening. My feet, hands, nose and lips are super swollen these days and I feel really uncomfortable.

When I thought I was going into labor with my last baby (she was my fourth, so you'd think I would know by now!) I called the hospital and the woman told me to get in the tub. Drink one full glass of water within the first 5 minutes, then drink another full glass during the next 20. She said my contractions would either stop or get worse and that's how I would know if it was labor or not. I only ever lost my plug noticeably with my last one and it was about a week before she was born.

might be. drink and eat and rest, just in case, it will give you energy. Check your bag, make a list, and go to bed :D
