My son has been in a home for boys with addiction problems for the past 2 yrs. His addiction was marijuana and video games. He has done relatively well in this program. It improved his social skills (he's very introverted), he seems to have no interest in drug use but still likes video games. He is also not interested in hanging out with the same people he did before which is a good thing.
He recently returned home this past summer. We had all been in counseling and talked about and signed a family contract of what our expectations were.
Ours were sign up for jr. college, get a job (part time if going to college, full time if not).
The only thing that has happened is he has a part time job at MacDonalds which amounts to 4 hrs. a week.
He's very immature, he's scared of everything. He doesn't want to move out. He has been tested for numerous things...everything comes back normal. He took his SAT's while at the group home and scored extremely high.
He says he wants to persue zoology but makes no effort to get there. We've showed him the bus schedule and made him use it. He has no drivers license.
The bottom line is he just has no motivation to do anything. We've been in counseling since he's been home but don't seem to be making any headway.
Anyone else dealt with this type of problem? Any suggestions, thoughts, ideas?
