This sounds like a weird question, but how do I wean my 17 month old baby? I tried substituting bottle for breastmilk but he hates the bottle. I have very badly got him into the routine of breast before bed so its comfort for him too. Did anyone out there make their toddler go cold turkey? The only problem with that is my breasts will feel like they will explode (very painful). How long until the milk disappears? Thank you so much for any tips in advance. From Marsha

Thanks Sarah and Celeste
I won't go cold turkey on the poor baby but I am sooooo tired that I have put him in his own room. He was crawling all over me any time he woke up just to get a feed. All while husband snores away peacefully. Ha ha. But seriously, thank you and I will follow your suggestions and Dr Jay Gordon's as that was helpful too.

I too would recommend not going cold turkey.....just decrease the amount of times you nurse and/or the length of time the nursing session is. At 17 months I would not worry about trying to transition to bottle. I would work o transitioning to sippy cup as doctors usually want babies to be off the bottle at 12 months.
