How do you deal with a step child who blames you for everything that caused their parents to split up. I should I treat them when they treat me so poorly and always say mean and hurtful things

Then the father is weak. Sorry, but if his relationship is so fickle with his daughters that he can't deal with this issue for fear he won't see them, then he needs to grow a back bone. Those kids will walk all over him, and ultimately, he isn't doing them any favours.

They were apart for a year until I met him. And they are girls. One is 15 and the other 17 I treat them like my own. I treat equal as my and son and sometimes my son gets the raw end of the deal. I truly treat them well. I include them everything I can.
The father isn't happy about it at all. He feels if he punishes them they will get mad and not want to visit him.

It truly depends on how old the child is and did you cause their split. This is so wrong, but I'm 24 and my parents are married, but if they ever decided to get a divorce and my dad remarried I probably wouldn't be the nicest and I'm an adult. Yes, it's sad, but true. Also, is the child a boy or girl? Are you nice and loving toward them or do you treat them like a "stepchild"?

How old is your step-child? And how long has the relationship been broken up between your partner and his ex? I only ask because kids at different ages think different things. It isn't uncommon for a child to blame a new partner for their parents not being able to get back together, so even though you are not to "blame" as such, in their eyes, you still have a part in it.

I'm with Jodi. Did you cause their parents to split or come along after?

Well, is it true or not? My answer would depend on the answer to that question.
