How do you get a child to focus (potential ADD) with out medication??

Set up a quiet, consistent workspace where she can do her work. Instead of requiring her to sit for the full 10-20 minutes, what about breaking it in half (or even into thirds, depending on what she has) and have her take a stretch break (or something else physical) for a short span and then sit and work on the second half. Also, for some kids, chewing gum can help them focus (as long as it doesn't turn into another plaything!). Don't forget to offer praise for times when she is focused and getting things done.
