How do I get my 16 month old son to stop biting other children. I've tried biting him back and that don't work. He is an only child and never really never has any kids over to play with him cause everyone in the family is older.

There is certainly no easy answer. Until he gets out of biting stage you will NEVER be able to let him out of your sight with other children till he stops. You will need to move him, distract him or put him in time out everytime you see him going in for a bite.

Every time he bites a kid you should take him home and explain that when you bite people play time is over. People don't like it when you bite and they won't want to play with you.

You also need to teach him to use his words instead of biting. Biting in a toddler is a sign of frustration and anger that they just can't put into words. Help him talk out his feelings rather than act them out: "I can see Brandon took your toy. You're ANGRY about that, aren't you? Can you show me an ANGRY face?" It may sound stupid and silly but it will help him get over using physical force to get his point across if he can do it verbally and with facial cues.

PS: Stop biting him back. It's not helping.
