My son came back home and he does not work at this time. he want keep the house clean, wash his own clothes i told him that this a temporary stop for him. I told him that he has to move by next year december 2013,, Is that too long? he has been here since March of this year.

Personally, I'd give him 24 hours to start cleaning up after himself and doing his own laundry... or he's out immediately. There is no excuse for a 22 year old man to not help out around the house at all.

If he's been there since March... there's no excuse for him to not have A job (even if it's only part time, crummy job, w/ lousy pay... at least SOMETHING)... unless he's been actively looking all day, every day.

If you give him until December 2013... that's almost TWO years! I definitely think that is way too long. Let him know that he's to start paying rent (at whatever amount you deem reasonable) on January 1, 2013 (I even think THAT'S too long, but way better than Dec 2013)... and every month after. If he doesn't have the money... that's his move out date.

If my child is honestly TRYING and working their butt off... I would never make them leave home no matter what their age, but you don't get to sit on your butt, do nothing, and get a free ride.
