How do you keep your kitchen clean?

How do you get family members to clean off or rinse their dishes and then put it in the dishwasher?
How do you get someone to unload the dishwasher?
If the kitchen is clean and then someone goes in and makes a slight mess do you immediately call them on it and have them go clean it? What if that person is an adult?
I refuse to clean up after people in the kitchen every hour just to keep it looking nice. How do you get everyone to do their part?.

I live with my husband, our 3 year old daughter and my husband's 21 year old sister.

I used to get _really_ frustrated with the fact that nobody but me seems to clean up or even see dirt. They'd do things like pour dirty food waste or liquid into the sink on the outside of the washing up bowl, then be surprised when I was angry that I had to fish yucky crap out of the sink and then bleach both inside and outside of the bowl to remove the stain from the food. That's just one example.

I even went so far as to say at one point that I was done with them and they could hire a maid.

However, I took a bit of a step back and have accepted that I'll always do more of a share than they will. I am at home and, though I am trying to work towards developing a business, it's slightly on hold for various reasons. Meanwhile, they either work full time or go to college 'full time'.

As a compromise, I now just tell them: see this thing you just did? Don't do it. It would take 20 seconds extra for you to do it right, but if I come out in the morning to find a food encrusted, dried sink, then it takes 10 minutes for me to put it right...and you magnify that by all the 'little' things...and suddenly I'm cleaning after you guys all day every day.

Then I just keep telling them. Eventually part of it seems to sink in!
