How do you teach your toddler how to blow his / her nose?

My son is a copycat, so it was easy for me. I just snorted air through my nose (in a very unladylike way!) and he laughed and tried to do it, so I showed him a few more times until he got it. Then I added the kleenex and blew my nose, and then I put the kleenex on his nose and snorted some more and he snorted while I blocked one nostril, and I showed him the resulting mess on the tissue. He was very proud. :) Now I just make a snorting sound when I want him to blow, and he does. He thinks it's fun.

My nephew is not a copycat, he does things his own way, so he hasn't learned yet. (he's almost 2) I think how fast they learn depends on your child's temperment.

I taught my daughter by teaching her to blow out of her nose a little harder than normal breathing. I'm not sure how I did it really. She was about 10 months old and it seemed easy at the time! I guess maybe watching you do it may help, but I put a tissue on her nose and told her to blow, sometimes I closed her nose and released quickly so she would blow air out harder than normal...good question!
