If the doctor said nothing I would give her nothing for now. Sometimes doctors are in a hurry and overwhelmed. Call into the nurse and confirm her symptoms and ask about the little fevers. I tried to never give my babies any medication though, you never know how their little bodies will react. Often it resolves on its own.

BUT Is it a dry cough? Then a humidifier will help, but I found the hot air humidifiers work much better than the cold air ones. Since she can't touch it, it won't be an issue.

Go with your doctors recommendation, however you may want to call in and speak to a nurse and see what they say. Sometimes they have "over the counter" remedies doctors never mention. I always used a humidifier if it was a dry cough, to keep the throat from drying out and moisture in the air. The air is drier in the winter with the heater running and can make a cough worse. But yeah, with babies you sometimes just wait it out unless it gets worse.
