How long does Adoption take?

I am new here and would appreciate informative responses. We are thinking about adopting a child

from the 1-2 year age group. We require details about complete procedure of Adoption in US.

And also time involved in it. Thanks all.

Are you IN the US?

It could take months... or years. There isn't really anyway for anyone on here to give you totally accurate information as there are way too many variables at stake. I would look into finding an adoption attorney and ask them your questions.

Agrees with Evelyn. Each state and each agency is going to be different. With all they will require an application, birth and marriage certificates, criminal and child abuse checks, references, medical physicals, adoption education, evaluation of your home. Time will vary depending on agency and what is needed to make an assessment. Usually the process to complete your home study can range between 3 to 6 months. For placement that time frame can be years depending on type and age of child and agency you are working with. My advise is to get a list from your state of all the licensed agencies in your state and then call for information.

That depends on the state you live in. Each state has its own laws and requirements for adoption. I think your best bet is to start looking in the place you are from.
