We just put our little one in her crib in her room for the first time last night. She's just about 5 weeks. She has been taking naps there all week with no issue. Last night she cried a little, but nothing really terrible. We went in to comfort her once and she settled right in. At around 2 she woke up to eat (I breastfeed) and was back in until 5:30/6. She is napping in there now, was a little fussy, but was asleep within 10 minutes. How long should we let her fuss at night? and is 5 weeks too early?

Intermittent fussing/whining noises? 5 or 10 minutes is fine. If she's crying? Not at all. CIO is not really a good idea at all, but especially under 6 months has the potential to cause irreversible brain damage. Obviously you can't always get to a child instantly (you do have to pee and such...lol), but just leaving them to cry to 'sleep train' is not a good idea.

Thanks, Yah, absolutely no screaming and hasn't ever been more than 10 minutes. When she wails it out we go right in. I'm not doing the CIO sleep training.. That really isn't a training and not what sleep training is at all. You're supposed to go in when they start to cry and increase the time, but that is for 6+months. She has just recently started sleeping longer, and she's a noisy sleeper, so we figured it might me time...plus our dog keeps bumping her bassinet and waking her up...so there were some reasons, but all in all she seems to be doing OK.
Thank you. I appreciate your comment.
