My first labor was 37 hours and my second was 22. So not quite half, but still quite a jump down. I don't remember much about my first one. I didn't want drugs and the nurses really pressured me into them, two doses of staidol to be exact. So I felt pain, but I was really loopy. felt like I was high and tired. By the time i needed to push I was so out of it I could barely lift my head. My dr thought it was the length of labor and was really cautious the second time around. So when we got to about 20 hours of labor and I stalled he kind of freaked out and wanted to break my water and give me pitocin. We let him break my water and after 30 minutes he decided not to give me pitocin. an hour and a half later baby 2 arrived. I read Natural Childbirth the Bradley Way to prepare myself. I would not say that it was less painful but I was better able to deal with it since I knew exactly what I could expect.

my first labor was 16 hours, and my second one was 8. pretty much cut in half. everybody i know it has always been a lot shorter. you got off pretty lucky with the first one being only nine hours!! my recovery was about the same, worse in some areas, better in others. i couldn't pee forever after my first one, and with my second one i could pee right away. but my crotch hurt for a very long time after my second one, months longer. with my third one everything was a hell of a lot easier, and he was the biggest, 9 lbs 5 oz.

my labour with my son (1st) lasted 14 hours from my waters going to delivery. My waters going was how I went into labour my contractions started 30mins later. With my daughter 6 weeks ago I was overdue by 12 day's so I was induced. My contractions hadn't started and from the time the midwife broke my waters to delivery was 53mins. I was in shock as was my boyfriend and the midwife who delivered my daughter. I have been advised that if I have anymore that I should have a home birth as I may not get to the hospital in time. My first labour was considered short. My 2nd labour was a lot more painful but it was over so soon I'd forgotten about it straight away.

My first one was 23 hours. My second one (just this past July) was 26 hours. I had to be induced with the second one and was having contractions off and on for 3 weeks prior to my due date. It wasn't shorter with my second one. The pain seemed more manageable because I think I knew what to expect.

My first, I didn't even know I was in labor, it was all back labor (felt like back spasms
). They broke my water, and she was born shortly after that. I would say only about 6 hours total. My second was 2 1/2 hours from start to finish. My third, I had to be induced, but only lasted about an hour and 45 min. from the time they started the iv. Induced is definitely more intense!!

My first one was about seven hours and my second one took just one hour. It wasn't a bad as my first child, but after he was born my cramps felt like I was still in labor. the nurses said it was because my uterus took longer to contract back to its normal size. I was not expecting that much pain after.

My 2nd labor was 4 hours and third was 5, first was only 3 but I was unfortunately induced. As long as you go into your labor fearless and ready, I believe that makes it shorter, any fears or restrains can make it much longer. So it is really important to know that our bodies are made for birth, you can do it!

All 3 of my labours were all quick, the longest being 3 hours, but the pain was more bareable the 2nd and 3rd time round even tho the 3rd time round my son was 10 lbs 3oz. After the 2nd and 3rd time I was also able to walk around strait away too whereas the first time I was barely able too for quite a while

Mine was half the time of my first. (7.5 hours as opposed to 15) I don't think it's necessarily less painful (SORRY :) but you will cope better and are obviously better prepared. I took along a photo of my first child to remind me why in the heck I was doing this again! (lol) I also moved around a lot more, was more willing to ask for what I needed and refused Demerol, because the first time it made me feel like I was flying (not good, haha) I wish you luck and a peaceful and speedy delivery!
