How many hours of homeschool a week for my 5 yr old?

I just started homeschooling my 5yr old son, and I have read about 50/50 parents and teachers that are both for and against kindergarten curriculum during homeschooling. So to add to the confusion, he's a bit behind and I need to get him all caught up by September. I don't want to overwhelm him, but I do want to push him. He's very very smart and a super quick study. He's a video game and computer game child genius, and I need him to divert some of that genius over to his studies. Any thoughts, experiences, advice? PLEASE DO NOT MAKE NEGATIVE COMMENTS ABOUT THE VIDEO GAMES. You have a right to parent your child how you want to, please do not comment on my parenting, that is not what the discussion is about. Thanks for your responses ladies!! ❤️

I do not homeschool, so I do not have any information on how to get your child to catch up, BUT I would suggest you use some of your child's Computer skills to teach him some useful coding/programming skills. My husband makes a great living as a Software Architect. Look into a program called Scratch, developed by MIT. It is a game based program that teaches children how to code.

Best of luck with the homeschooling.
