Apparently my last response didn't come through

I want Ella to give me solid proof of a culture who encourages multiple piercings of babies as a "normal" activity.

I think it's just because she's around a bunch of OTHER people who like to do nonsensical things to their children, so she THINKS it is normal.

On a 6-year old earobes look OK but anything else is way too early in my view. Earlobes are certainly going to grow but somehow they're a little bit superfluous except for earrings. Anything else that might be pierced is going to grow and develop and might cause problems, in my view. Not even considering the problems with hygiene. Leave additional piercings to individual choices in teen years and beyond...

Ear lobes is plenty for a 6 year old. Pre teens are old enough for their 2nd holes. Teens are old enough for cartilage ( industrial, tragus, ect). Any other piercings after 18

No....loads don't do it - not multiple or cartilage piercings they don't. But plenty troll about it.

It actually makes you sound like a child yourself when you defend yourself with "loads do it".
That's the reasoning my children use to be able to do what they want, not adults.

Yep, and you haven't said what culture, nor have you bothered to say why you are even asking, since it is already done.

Good job. You have "bedazzled" your kid just to "fit in" because "loads of people" do it.

Way to promote individuality...or not.

Everything is wrong with children getting their cartilage pierced.
If everyone jumped off a cliff would you do it? Loads of people are doing it.
You don't have to be a sheep, you can actually do the right thing for your children instead of forcing piercings on them at such a young age.

I am really hoping this person is just trolling, because she also wants to do cartilage piercings on her 14 month old. Sorry, but that's just fucked up.

Where is that? 'Normal' or not wouldn't make a difference to me. Lots of people pierce their baby's ears and see it as perfectly 'normal'... doesn't mean anyone else has to go along w/ it if they choose not to do so.

Well, then, your kid already has way too many in my opinion. Who decided that would be cute? You or her?

No piercing until the kid is old enough to understand hygiene in regards to the piercing. For some kids, that's 8, for others it's 10. Most reasonable parents would not allow their six year old to handle the antiseptics to clean the piercing, as that is dangerous as well, if they misuse, swallow, or get it in their eyes.

However, you've already allowed, as you say "multiple" piercings, so what is your point here? Why are you asking now?

In my home 6 is too young for any piercings. My daughters would have been 12 to be allowed their first piercings (and none others til 18), but they changed their mind about it and at 14.75 years old still haven't had it done... 100% their choice for the single ear piercing set now.

None of my kids are allowed more than one piercing in each ear. They are permitted to get them pierced as a gift for the First Communion at age 8/9. When they are 18, they can do what they wish.
