My 4mths old baby girl use to get a wet bath in the morning then before bedtime I wipe her with a warm soak cloth. My mom says she should shower 2x per day if weather is hot. So which is the appropriate shower frequency for a baby???

MAYBE once a day. MAYBE. Otherwise, you're inviting skin infection, dryness, itchiness, and low immune system.

When my kids were little, my pediatrician, my RN friend, AND my grandmother who'd been a pediatric nurse all recommended an every other day bath with a sponge bath on the days in between.

If u give a bath every day I would do a wipe down in the morning and a bath in the evening so you won't dry out his/her skin.

My dr said 4 times a week, their skin is to sensitive to be bathed every day. They still need their hands and faces washed after meals though.

Babies actually don't sweat like we do, so that is not an issue. I would say maximum once a day.

I usually go once a day... Mine all loved a bath it was kind if a treat... And they were every day pooers, which I felt made it nessersary.. But I'm bath lover, we all bath twice a day summer and winter In my house

LOL...That answers my question, Denikka!

How are you and baby (and family)?

Defiantly no more than once a day and a baby of that age would not like a shower

My newborn (and my older 2 before they started walking about at about 10months) bathed when they were dirty. It was more frequent when they started real foods at 6ish months, but really, it was only on extremely hot days when they sweated like piggies, or had gotten into something or whatever. Other than that, it was just a wipe down/sponge bath with a damp cloth once or twice a day (twice a day for my daughter because of her epic rolls XD)
However, they DID play in the tub about 4-6 times a week for 15-30 minutes. I just used plain water with no soap or anything. Never had an issue with dry skin, but that could just be my kids :P

My daughter gets a bath 3 times a week. I keep her hands and face clean. I even wash her feet since it is the summer time. To my understanding bathing a baby everyday causes dry skin. I can already tell when my daughter has been exposed to water too much because the texture of her skin is drier.
