how much contact is right with adult children who live away from home?

I agree with the others. There is no right or wrong answer. It depends on circumstances and the individuals involved.

Depends on the people, the relationship, the proximity, lots. I don't think there is a right answer. I live several provinces from my parents, and we talk a few times a year. My stepson is close to my age, and he talks to his father every other day, and we usually see him every couple of weeks. My kids who are grown and live on their own, and I talk to my daughter usually every other day, and my son about a couple of times a week and see them regularly. I find the closer you are physically the more involved you are in each other's lives (in my family). I think it also depends on their relationships. When they have a partner and/or kids, their parents no longer have as large a role in that child's life.
