My son is 5 months and my Dr tells me he is over eating! Im one of those my baby will eat until he is done. I do know that babys can be over fed but Im his mother i know when he is hungry. When he doesnt want his bottle he wont take it, when he doesnt want another bite he turns his head.

So if your daughter is acting satisfied then its fine, if she is still acting hungry try feeding her a little more. Your daughter goes to bed pretty early also and she doesnt wake up during the night to eat? Then you're good to go! My 5 month old eats more then that so that isnt too much for her, every baby is different some require more then others some are hungrier more.

That sounds about like the schedule my 6 month old is on. She has been on solids since 5 months and been doing really well..but when she eats I give her a diluted juice bottle (about 4 oz usually apple juice) instead of formula. And then her other bottles throughout the day are formula.

My doctor did not like me feeding her so early, but it just felt like she was ready so I did it. And she just had shots maybe 2 weeks ago and the doc was impressed and told me not to worry with changing her diet, that she was handeling it well.

My son will be 6mths.
B: 9am-3oz of fruit and 6oz bottle
L: 1pm-3oz of fruit and 6oz bottle
D: 6pm-3oz of veggie and 6oz bottle
Bed time: 8oz bottle
I offer an oz of water in between but he usually doesn't take it.
Hopes this helps. :)

today was rare though. normally i give him more bottles then solids. i think its important to keep him hydrated

today was half a cup of rice cereal. x2 six ounce bottles. and five jars of food. i think your feeding your baby the right amount. my doctor says feed feed feed at this age. your baby will let you know when they are full. my baby is 6 months and weigh 17 pounds and is 25 inches but very lean.

i wanted to add that my baby sleeps a full 12 hours and does not wake up in the middle of the night to eat. she is in the 75 percentile of her weight. i guess every baby is different. i may start cutting down on her bottles the more solids she eats....thanks everyone.

RIght now Milk/formula should be her main source of food. You can start other food but just added to not in place of. A child only needs milk/formula for the first year of life. We add other things so they stay full longer. Talk to your Dr. watch your daughter take your cues from her

Just as a reference for amount of food, my son is 8 months and is a healthy boy/eater, here's his typical day:

7am - nurses

9am - small breakfast, usually oatmeal or cheerios

12- 1 jar of a veggie and a mashed fruit (close to one jar equivalency)

3pm-nurses

6pm - 1 jar of veggie and a fruit

9pm - nurses and goes to sleep for the night

He also drinks 4-6 oz of diluted apple juice throughout the day,

He is starting to prefer small peices of food as opposed to pureed as well - hope that helps :)

I find that babies thin out naturally (if they are a little chubby) when they start to walk... Unless the bub is really overweight, then there is nothing to worry about... you know as a mother if your bub is ok!

I did get told by a number of professionals that babies don't over eat, they will only eat until they are full and this did seam to be the case with my daughter when she was that age, so I wouldn't stress about if your feeding her to much as long as she is eating the right sort of food.

When my son was younger then that I started some cereal in his bottle, in one of those feeder bottles to help him sleep through the night. My mom always said that you should start with one thing like fruit and try for awhile make sure no allergies then after a couple days try another and so forth. My son ate stage 1 at about 6 months or so. He is the pickest eater you will ever meet now I hope you have better luck then I did! Hope that helps some have a great night!
