My sister just had her baby.. hes almost 3 weeks. He was 11lb 12.7 oz at birth.. it dropped due to breastfeeding.. shes giving him both breast and formula because she had a c section and her milk came in late. shes been trying to just give him boob but shes basically having him attached all day because hes always fussing and seeming hes starving. she can give him the bottle with formula and it will fill him but now hes also getting constipated. today she said he is over fussy and shes trying everything and hes acting like hes hungry.... how much should she be giving him.. and is giving both boob and formula causing him to be fussy or is it just the formula?

Almost all babies lose weight after birth. That's totally normal.

The more she gives the formula... the less she will make from the breast. Having him attached practically all day long is the best thing for her milk production (though I KNOW how 'annoying it is). As long as he's growing (even slowly) and wetting 6-8 times/day he does not need the formula. He could be fussing because of the formula. He could be fussing because of reflux. He could be fussing because that's what newborns do. It can be really hard to tell sometimes. ;)
