How much should a 17 yr. old see her boyfriend?

My step-daughter is 17 years old and has been dating her boyfriend for a month; he is polite and seems nice. The issue is that since seeing him she has stopped turning in homework assignments and now has an F and 3 C's when she used to be an A, B student. My question is how often/how many days a week should she be allowed to hang out with her boyfriend?

I agree with the others. All homework must be done and you may want to see that she has actually been working on it. Tell her with good grades she will actually be given more time to see him. Take away her phone during school hours and give it back only after she gets home and does homework. These kids use their phones during class even when their not supposed to and it's very distracting.

I have a rule in my house - your school work needs to come first before you go anywhere. If grades drop, we restrict exracurricular activities until grades are back up (this includes boyfriends/girlfriends). If your daughters grades have dropped to include Fs, then she shouldn't be hanging out with the boyfriend at all until she gets those grades back up.

If her grades dropped like that and she were MY daughter... she would lose all electronics (other than supervised computer time for needed homework) and she would not leave the house other than school and church until the grades came up. Dating wouldn't even be allowed into the conversation w/ those grades because she would have no social life at all.
