How much should a single mum get from the father of her child?

I think people have already answered you - it depends on circumstances, how much you each earn, where you live. This is one of those "how long is a piece of string" questions. If you are getting along well enough to agree, then it is whatever you agree. Ultimately, he should be responsible for 50% of your child's expenses, but it does also depend on how much time you all have her and so on. You really haven't given enough information for any real answer.

1) Depends on the state our country you live in and the laws there.
2) Depends on the court orders already made. If no court orders are there you need to get some done for custody, child support and visitation. Note: All issues though they in some ways go together are treated as separate issues.
3)The state or country you live in looks at the income of said parent and determines what is paid out depending and percentages used and what the parent makes. No two places are the same. Also note: If the parent who pays child support needs to can go to court to ask for an adjustment to support if their income changes radically lower. Also the parent getting the child support for the kids has the right to go to the court and ask for increase if they find out the income of other parent has risen.
4) Present facts not your feelings. Listen to the judge and follow the orders. If the orders say that X amount of money is the child support and covers X sorts of things you may not be able to ask for more money for other things. If you need the help in paying for say child care or things of this nature or school related, make sure that lands in the paperwork too.
