I have a 5 year old boy and a 3 year old girl. How much should I pay a teenage babysitter? I live in Sandy, Utah. I'm sure it varies depending on the area. I would appreciate any input you have. This is the first time I've left them with anyone besides family so I have absolutely no idea how much to pay.

Our church pays $7.95 per hour. Our neighbors pay my daughter $10 per hour. We are in southern Texas.

My daughters are teenagers who babysit occasionally. (We live in northern VT which is a depressed area.) They are pleased with $5 - $6 an hour regardless of how many kids. There are many families in this area with more than 4 children! They appreciate feedback as they cook for and clean up after the kids! They even drive to the house in their own vehicle saying two trips for the mom/dad!! If you find someone you trust and the kids like, pay them well, otherwise they will choose other things to do over babysitting though. Good luck!

Look online for going rates, I was told no less than 5 bucks an hour/kid for any sitter. Not 100% though.
