I am a private tutor with 10 years of teaching experience. Some parents only want to pay $15 - $25 per hour.

My best friend is a high school math teacher. He also works part time at Huntington Learning Center (a tutoring place.) He gets paid $12 per hr for regular tutoring and $20 per hr for SAT kids. He knows a few people that do private tutoring however and has been told recently that they normally charge anywhere from $25-$40 per hour. Hope this helps you!!!

I charge $30 an hour, as I have 11 years of classroom teaching experience, countless other skills, have taught all subjects and grade levels, and am Career certified in Special Education k-12. Every client I have finds this to be affordable for them, considering what tutoring programs & other activities charge. This is in St. Louis, MO.

I think the price varies based on location. $15-$25 is about average where I live for highly qualified and certified tutors.
