Both my boys were around 7 months when they started getting teeth. For pain, we gave Tylenol if we really needed to, used teething rings, and baby orajel (just a pea sized amount).

My daughter started teething at 3 months but her first tooth didn't come in until 6 months. 2nd tooth a week later. Within 2 months, she had 8 teeth and at 9 months, she got her first molar. It's hard when they are teething, because you can't really do much to help. I did find, however, that she liked to gnaw on a cold washcloth. Wet it, put it in the freezer for 10 mins and let her have at it. Also, we would give her baby tylenol every 5-6 hours depending on the dosage. Another thing that helped, we would give her the dum dum suckers as well. Feels good to the gums because it's hard, but it's a nice treat too. Usually pops the tooth through.
Hope this helps!

My son was 3 months old when he cut his first tooth and had a full set around 16 months! To help with the pain and relieve pressure I gave him teething rings that could go in the freezer and cold wash clothes to bite down on. Sometimes I let him chew on my fingers! When he was older I gave him baby Tylenol but I checked with the pediatrician to see if it was okay and also for the right dosage. I never found Orajel helpful even for adults. It mixes with the saliva and makes the mouth and lips numb instead!

A cold wet washcloth to chew sometimes helps a bit. I guess my son was early. He started getting fussy and drooly off and on at 3 months, and at 5 months had his first tooth.

My 1st girl started teething at about 5 months old, but didn't actually cut her first tooth until just before she turned 16 months old, then she got all of her teeth inside of the next 4 months. My 2nd girl cut her first tooth at around 6 months and had all of her teeth in by the time she turned 14 months.

My doc and the pediatric dental nurse at our health clinic both said that unless they didn't cut any teeth at all by the time they were 18 months not to worry - if they hadn't cut any teeth by the time they were 18 months then they would look at why.

I think it depends on the child - I know that all of my friend's children had all their baby teeth by the time they were 2 1/2.

My son was about 8 months, and my daughter...well she was really late. She cut her first tooth 1 week before she turned 1. She JUST is in the middle of cutting her 6th tooth, and she is 18 months.
