I always read its good for parents to keep their child on a good routine. But how good of a routine do I need for my child. He doesnt listen. And somedays he wont take a nap at nap time. I try to put him to bed each night at the same time. But thats about it. When he misses his nap his bed time is earlier. I need help on a better plan for secheduling our days out. Can anyone help?

I use a laid back strict routine I have use with all 3 of our kids ages 6 years, 5 years and 13 months...
We start the day at 6:o0a.m. by getting up and dressed, then after that we have breakfast around 6:20ish, then off to brush teeth, Get older 2 outside to meet bus for school, then 13 month old has playtime till 8:00ish then we sit down and read stories, by 10:30 he is ready to lay down for a nap, sometime he will just have rest time as long as he is not screaming or crying for more then 20 mins {this is a guide line I set for myself } at 11:30 - 1:00 he wakes I make lunch and we play till his brother and sister get home.. Then at around 5:30 - 6:00 dinner is ready and they all 3 are in bed by 7:30 - 8:00... Now if we are out running around, there is enough give in the routine that it will not cause them to act out, they all behave pretty well when out and about.. Biggest thing is finding what works best for your little guy... I know all 3 of mine dropped one nap a day at a year which lucky was the afternoon nap.. The morning naps make it so I can get all the house work done and then have time to play with 13 month old and the spend time and help the 6 and 5 year old with home work and reading...
Biggest thing I learned from the oldest was not to plan around his nap times as then he thought he was the boss...
