My daughter whom is also my best friend just left Friday for college. We are in Florida & she is now in Mass!!! I am having a really difficult time with it, crying alot and mopeing around like someone has died. She is my youngest, my baby and its rough. I am very proud of her & so far she seems to be doing really good, but I can't help but worry & when I think of how long she will be gone, I freak out....HELP!

We have family in Mass so we go there several times a year. Its just hard not seeing her daily. I know I need to quit the pitty party & move on, its just harder than I thought. Boston is an amazing place and I know she will have a great time. I am extremely proud of her and as long as she doesn't start getting so homesick that it affects her I will be fine.

You need to find a hobby or something you like to do. Go to meetup.com and browse what they have. MAybe join a class or 2.
I can sympathize with the grief but will you be seeing her often?
Call her, write to her.....I'm sure she knows how much you miss her.

I am in Mass. Let me tell you, it ia a great place to visit! College life is an experience that any student should be grateful for. Be proud of her, as you are, but also know she is going to have the adventure of her life. Meeting new people, being independent, receiving a higher education. Boston is such an awesome place! It is literally a melting pot of people She is going to have a wonderful time, and just remember...you are a phone call away, a stroke of a key away, and a 3hr flight (about that) away! I know it isn't easy, but know that she is still your daughter and your best friend. I know you want her to enjoy her life! Let her!
