How to deal when family won't believe you over your daughter?

Hi,
My 17 y/o daughter has been in loads of trouble at home, school, and with the law. I'm a single mom (adopted them as a single mom) so I tried relying on my family for support. Recently she ran away with a 27 y/o (drugs, sex, and who knows what) and came home 2 days later. When she tried to run away again, my family took her in. She's being a model child for them so they believe all her trouble was my fault. How does one cope with this? Now they are asking me to give up custody until she is 18 in a few months. My younger daughter misses her sister and I'm afraid she will want to do the same. (my family has money that I don't)

If they're catering to her, then of course she's going to act nice for them. She's getting what she wants (being allowed to be a spoiled brat). Fact is, your family does not have custody of her. Call the police on them for harboring a minor run-away. Since she's nearly 18, they may not do much, but it will go a long way toward your family taking you seriously. After she's 18, there may not be much you can do.

Actually I was up at 3:00 a.m. last night thinking about all this. I've decided that she can stay with them but has to go to therapy and get a job since she's dropped out of school. I am doing this through a family lawyer just to keep things legal. We'll see what happens when they receive notice of my requirements for her to stay with them.... At this point I know I lost my extended family but now I have to figure out how to keep my daughter safe until she's 18 in September. If with them then so be it.

BTW... most of my friends believe she will begin to behave the same with them after some period of time.
