How to get 17yr to finish High School

Having taught classes of 16,17 and 18 year olds, I can say that even if you forced him to attend school, you can't force him to learn. Some of the most disruptive students in class are highly intelligent individuals, but just don't want to be there for whatever reason, and nothing a teacher can do will make a difference to some of those students without that teacher spending the entire class with that kid, which is unfair to the other students.

So quite honestly, I think, depending on the reasons (more information), you would honestly be better to encourage them to find something they are passionate about and help them find a way to turn that into something for themselves for the future.

My brother didn't finish high school because all he ever wanted in his life was to cook. He was an A student at school, but just wasn't interested in being there. So instead of pushing him to finish, my parents helped him find an apprenticeship. 20 years later, he is still in his chosen profession.

Other people I know never finished high school, but after a few years recognised their mistake and went back to finish. It is never too late.

Well you can't force anyone to do something, especially with him being so close to an adult.......more details would help though.
