How to get a 2 yr old with dev. delays to sleep in toddler bed?

My DD is going to be 2 in a couple weeks, and is being investigated for genetic disorders ( triple A syndrome), she has some developmental delays as well as other health concerns and does not communicate well. She is small, 5th percentile for height and 3rd for weight, but despite being little, she somehow manages to FALL out of her crib! Head first! I tried converting her crib to a toddler bed with no success. She simply isn’t ready, and might not be for quite a while....I need some help, because I cant safely put her in her crib, but cant safely put her in the toddler bed either, she gets out, fall off, and simply feels afraid and screams and grips onto me as soon as she gets near it. She has always been an easy bedtime baby, no rocking, singing, or anything, just plop her into the crib, turn on the aquarium and walk away… Any suggestions to help us out would be greatly appreciated.

Consider getting a crib tent, you are perfectly correct, she doesn't sound ready for a toddler bed so why push her? If you decide to get a crib tent get her one that attaches under the mattress, this is usually safer. Here is an example:

Make it a game and I think she will get very comfortable with it and may even enjoy snuggling into her tent.
