how to get a 20 year old into drug rehab if he refuses to go but steals lies and continues with drugs.

You cannot, nor should you try to force an adult into rehab.

The adult must personally admit their addiction, and be ready and willing to receive help before rehab will be worth the time and expense.

Until the adult is ready to make that admission to themselves and their families, rehab will be an expensive waste of time.

I know that this is hard on you, as a parent. However, you must find it in your heart to cut ties with the addict. DO NOT give them money. DO NOT give them a place to stay. DO NOT pay their bills for them. DO NOT allow them access to your home, vehicles, or valuables. If you feel that you must do something, purchase groceries. Healthy foods. NO over the counter meds, though...they can be used to manufacture other drugs.

Go to Al-Anon. Get yourself and the rest of your family into sessions that will help you learn how to handle your addict until he's hit rock bottom and is ready to commit to rehab.

Best of luck, Marie. If you need to talk, let me know.
