How to get baby napping during the day

My son screams every time I lay him down for a nap. The only time he'll sleep during the day is if he's in his swing or if I'm holding him and he falls asleep. Any advice would be great!

My second daughter was the same. I kept it up for 8 months. My house looked like a war zone with my older daughter running around and me having hardly any time to clean or do anything. I also ended up doing short CIO. I'm not saying that's the only solution, but in our case it was the only one that made sense. If you only have the one kid it might be easier to do a more "gentle" sleep training technique if that is important to you. A lot of people told me to lie down with her until she fell asleep. Well, kind hard to just lie there for a million years when you have a non-napping three year old to look after too! Ha.

I swaddled my son, layed him in his cot let him cry 2 mins,go in settle him eg little cuddle, dummy in,cum back out then leave another 2 mins go back in do the same as befor.......I'd carry on like that untill he fell asleep its called the controlled crying techniqe,it really works,my son is 17 months old now and is a fab sleeper,he will fall asleep anywhere.....if only I did that techniqe with my eldedest hahahahaha
